Every Saturday during the month of July the MAH will host an Art Market outside where local artists and crafters can sell their work from 11-5pm to the public. The purpose of this is to 1) raise interest and capital around purchasing art in santa cruz from local artists and 2) activate abbott square as a place for art, families and for people to gather and experience culture.
The MAH can provide: 4 pop up tents, 2 umbrella stands, tables and chairs for setting up, press around the event, the artist’s name, art and website listed and linked to our event page for the Art Markets and water. All other display materials will have to be brought by the artists. All cash boxes will have to be run completely by the artists themselves. The artists make full profit off of what they sell.
The total fee for the space is $200. This can be divided up amongst the artists involved. So for example if we have 4 artists selling, each would pay the MAH $50 for the space. 8 artists for $25 each. The tents are limited so we only have 4 available- if we had 8 artists they could share the tent space or bring their own. The maximum artists we can have for each event is 8 as space is limited. 8 will be tight in Abbott Square but we could set up in the back patio or front street entrance as well. If it rains- everyone comes inside to the atrium.
If you are interested please contact me and Dani Epstein firstname.lastname@example.org (the summer intern coordinating the art markets) as soon as possible to confirm a spot.
TEDxGlobal 2012 Viewing Party

As the world becomes ever more interconnected, the ways we relate, the means by which we learn about one another and develop mutual understanding, and the rules about what we hide and what we share are changing. That’s the inspiration for the theme of TEDGlobal 2012: Radical Openness.
All bets are off as to what openness and collaboration in an ultra-connected world will mean for human potential. Traditional top-down models of organization no longer reflect reality. Social capital and influence are becoming stronger currencies than hierarchy and formal power. New, collaborative ways of creating meaning and things are developing at fast pace. Only one thing appears certain: Secrecy is no longer bankable: impact is. The future will be built on great ideas, and for that, great ideas need to circulate freely, broadly and openly.
TEDGlobal 2012 takes place in Edinburgh, Scotland, June 25-29, 2012. TEDxSantaCruz will be hosting a viewing party on June 28th, featuring sessions 4-7 of the event, videotaped in Edinburgh the day before. We will follow the schedule from TEDGlobal (which may vary slightly from the list below), which provides for generous breaks and a long lunch to allow for more conversations during the day.
