From Les Forster of Cypress Charter High School:
A house fire destroyed the home of a local Santa Cruz family on Saturday. Fortunately the 5 children, 2 dogs and their parents are safe, however everything they own was lost in the fire. The Cypress community is rallying around the family. A lot of clothing and children’s items have been received. At this time we are asking for monetary donations so they can quickly find a new place to live.
Monetary donations can be sent to our school, Cypress Charter H.S., 2039 Merrill St., Santa Cruz, CA 95062, payable to Christy Martisius.
For more information, please call our office at 477-0302.
The family is also looking for a house to rent, near the school in Live Oak (the area near 17th Ave, Soquel Ave, Rodriquez and 7th Ave). If you can help, please call the school.
LesAndHi YouthSERVE,The Volunteer Center needs YOUR help! We are preparing wishing stars for the Adopt A Family holiday project where generous donors are paired with needy families to provide gifts for children in need. These stars will be posted in local businesses where customers can adopt a family for the holidays. Our business partners want 500 hundred wishing stars, but we only have 300 made! We need your help to decorate an additional 200 stars so no family is left behind. If you would like to help, we will be meeting tomorrow November 15 from 4 to 6 pm at the Santa Cruz Volunteer Center (1740 17th Ave) and Wednesday November 16 from 1 to 4 pm at the Watsonville Volunteer Center (12 Carr Street). If you can help, please RSVP to (831) 427-5066 or reply to this e-mail so I know how many supplies to prepare. Thank you for offering your time during the holiday season!Jacob WynneAmeriCorps YouthSERVE Volunteer CoordinatorVolunteer Centers of Santa Cruz County
